The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a press release on June 24, stating that China’s industrial energy consumption still accounts for about 70% of the country’s total energy consumption, and that it will stick to a new path of green industrialization.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that in order to achieve this goal, China will make efforts mainly in three aspects: accelerating the process of industrialization, adhering to industrial green development, and vigorously promoting energy conservation and emission reduction.
China will adjust the industrial structure, optimize the industrial layout, guide the orderly transfer of industries between regions, improve the industrial organization structure, and promote coordinated development in accordance with the requirements of the process of industrialization and the upgrading of the consumption structure. On this basis, China will mainly shift from extensive development of scale expansion and excessive consumption of energy resources to sustainable development focusing on efficiency, quality and benefits.
Statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology show that during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, China's industry has achieved an average annual growth rate of 11.6%, energy consumption per unit of industrial added value has dropped by 26%, and energy savings of 750 million tons of standard coal have been achieved.
